Breathing came hard and fast as my feet pounded against the earth below me. I could feel the presence of the hunters behind me, hear their cackling voices as they whispered to one another through the darkness. They were going to find me, one way or another. Vines whipped across my face as I ran through the gleaming paths in the woods, their woods. The paths they knew better than the back of their sickening hands. The sense of fear was boiling within me, its vapor seeping into every good sense I had. I knew I was no match for the hunters, for an immortal as they were. But I did know I wouldn't die without a fight.

The path that led me through the forest seemed endless. Almost as if I were on a never ending assembly line, being chased by death on my heels for eternity. At least until I fell or slipped right into their clutches. Whatever happened I had to stay alive for as long as I could bear it; cherishing each struggled breath until no air was left to breathe. Until that point and time came I would get away. The slithering demons that hunted me now would leave empty handed as long as I fled no matter what pain was blooming through my chest and collapsing lungs.

The cackled voices were approaching at an alarming rate; causing the vapor of fear to become too much. I fell, head first, onto the harsh ground below.
Cries escaped my lips as warm scarlet dripped from my hairline onto my pale moonlight skin. Within moments I was surrounded, the cracking laughs encasing themselves around me. Their hungry glowing eyes weighing heavy on my blood ridden forehead.
