The mist clung to my skin as I walked along the meadow, moonlight illuminating my frame. Woods surrounded me, the earth path that led to and from the meadow a thin thread among the dark canopies that hung in its vicinity. It welcomed me to return home at any moment, though the darkness around it beckoned me to stay. The night had become my habitat, my home more than the home I had always known. The meadow had welcomed me warmly ever since the first night I arrived, teary eyed and lonely, it's slick grass holding me gently as I poured my tears into the earth.

Eventually I brought myself enough sense to return home to my family and familiar bedroom. Sleep took me within moments, my dreams shrouded with silver mist. The dampness that clung to my clothes when I woke reminded me it hadn't always been just a dream. But all too soon daylight creeped through the cracks in my blinds, signaling me to plunge once more into the constant torture of daily life. As I descended the spiral staircase laced with metal the dull numbness took its hold over me, my lively free soul left behind in my unique world controlled by my inner mind.
