Lost in the shadows of the night
Running away to save your soul
Beaming down the moon is bright
and the red eyes of the monsters always know . .

Trees bending to the wind all around you
Your heart pounding so hard it might break out
And the wolves are howling to the moon and
as you look behind you hear the shout

(Oh)
(Hey, hey!) We are the nightmares, we are your nightmares
The haunting ghosts that make you shake
We are the monsters, we are your darkest fears
coming to life and we'll never let you wake

Creeping up close behind
Blood-thirsty creatures following you
You're soon running out of time
Believing is the least you could do

Deadly afraid and cold to your core
You try to keep your scream from escaping
Already gasping, will there be more
and deep down a snide voice is saying

(Oh)
(hey yeah!) We are the nightmares, we are your nightmares
The dreaded ghouls that make you scream
We are the killers, we are your terrors
crazed in our eyes and we'll never let you leave

Oh, oh
Do you see me hidden in shadows
Do you trust me my love
Do not be afraid I won't ever hurt you
Your eyes glisten in moonlight from above

Closer still and I flash my sharp teeth
Cold and pale arms crush you to my side
So swift before you can speak
As I kiss your neck and make you mine
(Oh)
(Hey, hey!) We are the nightmares, we are your nightmares
The haunting ghosts that make you shake
We are the monsters, we are your darkest fears
coming to life and we'll never let you wake
(Oh) We are the nightmares, we are your nightmares
The dreaded ghouls that make you scream
We are the killers, we are your terrors
crazed in our eyes and we'll never let you leave

Scream for me as you fall
(Wake Up)

I wrote this inspired by Matchbook Romance's song, "Monsters". It is also a song and a dream I had had.
