I woke early Monday morning and got a quick shower before waking Ally then Carmen at eight. I changed and did my hair while they showered. At about 8:30 we all went downstairs to the dining hall. It was still gray outside, the sky promising some kind of rain. I had forgotten to look for that book for Amun last night and I was worried that he knew. We ate and then rushed to class a little early. I wished them luck in Rituals as I went up to the third floor to Room 302. The classroom was pretty normal for a Dark Forces class. I sat in the back, dropping my bag on the floor.
Professor Moon wasn't here yet but more girls came in and as the late bell rang just my luck, Arlene came in and took next to mine, smirking. I rolled my eyes and watch the professor write on the chalkboard.
"Think your pretty tough don't you, Harlow?" Arlene hissed.
"Don't piss me off, Barbie." I hissed back.
"You're going to regret what you did yesterday."
"I'm sooo scared."
"Good Morning Class!" Professor Moon smiled. She was an average chanter witch with short red hair and green eyes. She wore a loose dress, purple and she was really pretty.
"I want all of you to pick up a textbook from the back of the room and copy down these notes on the board."

Dark Forces
1. Evil, Fact or Fiction?
2. What should you expect to deal with?
3. Why the dark arts seem glorified.
4. Techniques of defense
5. Recognizing Dark Witches

I copied them down after I got a textbook. The rest of the class was spent talking about rules, expectations, and our exams at the end of the semester. She gave us a fair warning of our homework load but she was giving us the first week off. We copied a little more notes then around 10:00 the bell rang to leave.
Arlene took care to knock my book off my desk as she passed, flipping her hair and making a dramatic exit. What a b****! I shoved the book in my bag and headed up the stairs to Creatures class.
Carmen was already there, we had those black tables usually in science rooms that two people sat at and she had saved me a seat. I walked over, grabbing a light gray textbook that said 'Creatures in the Modern World' and sat next to her.
"How was Dark Arts?" she asked.
"Well," I sighed. "It was supposed to be great but Arlene sat next to me, and when the bell rang she knocked my book off my desk."
"I told you. Pure evil." Carmen said.
"How was Rituals?"
"Fun. It's a hands on class." she smiled.
The room went quiet when Professor Thread walked in and assigned us a partner essay on any creature we like in the textbook and was to be handed in on Friday, two pages long. Carmen and I partnered up and picked the Unicorn. I wanted to do the Vampire but the way Carmen's face lit up when she saw the Unicorn kept me silent.
Professor Thread was tall and beautiful like a model, she had sandy colored hair and brown eyes with a tan complexion. She didn't hover but but let us work and talk to be comfortable.
"Wow," Carmen said. "Listen to this, if you grind the horn into a powder and mix it with Dragon's blood it's considered a potion that can cure any sickness."
"That's good, let's put that in there." I said.
When the bell rang at 11:15, Carmen and I went to the Dungeons/Basement for Potions. I swear I saw my breath down there it was so cold. I would remember to bring a sweater or something. We walked in the dark classroom taking care not to look at slimy things floating in jars in shelves that ran along the far wall.
"Gross." Carmen whispered as we shared another lab table in the back. Professor Sky was already at her desk, she was older with graying hair. She looked like an average grandmother. When everyone was there and seated she stood and swept her eyes across the room, studying us. This teacher really gave me chills. She passed out textbooks in silence then gave us some notes on animal bite Potions.
Sight-seeing was a more cheerful class, I saved a seat for Aly at one of the cloth-covered tables that went around the room. Professor Cross was really nice and let us spend the first class talking and looking through our books. The bell rang for lunch around 1:30 and we dropped off our books on the third floor before going to the dining hall. We met up with Carmen and I ate a little spaghetti with them before saying I had to go to the library. They were a little apprehensive but excused me.
I had to make up for lost time yesterday. I walked across the main hall and slipped through the library door. I already knew the librarian. Ms. Allison Red. I just called her Allison. She looked up when she heard the door shut behind me.
"Hello, Caitlyn. Was it you in my library last night?" she smiled, always knocking somehow..but did she know about someone else being in library last night?
"Yes, I had a late night reading." I showed the books I had chosen so she could check them out in my name.
"I'm going to need a few more, though."
"Always the bookworm. Just be careful coming around here at night. We wouldn't want any of the teachers catching you out of bed." She winked.
"No, we wouldn't." I agreed, going down several rooms to start at the end. I went ahead and got a book on Unicorns for the creatures essay. Another vampire book caught my eye.
'The Essence of Feeding' it explained how vampires hunted and what blood energy they looked for most. I decided to swap the one Amun gave me for this one. I went back to Allison and swapped books, checking out the one on Unicorns as well.
" You better hurry or you'll be late for your last class." she advised. Wow, I had wasted the rest of my lunch on these new books. Amun really was going to kill me. I shoved them in my bag and met up with Aly and Carmen as the bell rang.
"Hey, how was the library?" Carmen asked.
"Peaceful." I replied. We weren't the first ones out on the field. We all groaned when we saw Arlene, Ashely, and Sarah. Just our luck, they spotted us and waved.
"Good Afternoon." said Professor Claire who was short and had brown hair that curled outward at the tips. "Power-class is more than just physical education, it's your ability to control, maneuver, and enhance your powers over time. All of you are Elemental Witches and depend on having those certain elements near at hand. Correct?"
A few girls nodded, obviously nervous about using their powers in front of others.
"But what happens if your element isn't around? Excluding spirit and wind witches since their elements are everywhere but what if you were a flamewitch stuck at the bottom of the ocean? Or an earthwitch in the middle of burning forest? Or perhaps and aquawitch stranded in the desert?," she was making me nervous none of this had ever occurred to me before.
"This class is for control and discipline for your abilities. I'll teach you how to survive." We were then put in groups of four. Me, Aly and Carmen chose each other and a Spiritwitch with light brown hair and equally brown eyes joined us. I liked her immediately she had a peaceful, calm aura.
"Now, all of you will try to conjure your elements." Then she explained the ways for each element. We all practiced in silence for a minutes as the sun peeked through a tiny break in the clouds.
"I'm Laura." she said with smile.
"Carmen."
"Aly."
"Caitlyn."
"Nice to meet you." she said as her purple waves of energy lifted a few locks of her hair. They started talking about power-class and they invited her to sit with us in the dining hall. I felt a presence then, sharp and intense. I spotted Mr. Groundell talking to Professor Claire, they seemed worried..was it about a certain vampire?
"Caitlyn," Aly said, turning to Laura,"She does this all the time, you just have to snap her out of it. Laura was talking to you."
"Oh, I'm sorry." I smiled. She laughed.
"I said we have Dark Forces class together."
"That's wonderful! I thought I was going to be stuck dealing with Arlene for the rest of the semester."
"Arlene?" Laura asked. Carmen and Aly launched into the story and pointed out Arlene and her bitchy clones.

Carmen and I went ahead and finished our Unicorn essay at dinner. We were all at a table talking about our first day. Turns out Aly and Carmen had rituals with the clones.
"They wouldn't stop laughing." Carmen growled. "I just want to burn their fake extensions off."
The rest of us laughed in agreement. I took that book back to Allison before heading up the stairs to the third floor. The rest of the group sat down in front of the TV, watching a reality show. I sat on the couch next to Laura and opened the new vampire book I got...

'Vampires are dangerous creatures but the more time spent with one, the more that being craves their company or presence. The practice of feeding goes back to their existence. Vampires have rules and laws of their own like any other magical beings. They can glamour and hypnotize creatures to do their bidding. The older a vampire, the powerful..,'
I skipped this boring chapter and flipped to the actual feeding..
'When a vampire needs to feed their eyes will change color, it may be ruby red or pure black. The feeding is done by breaking the victims skin anywhere on the body with their fangs. It is the vampire's choice whether to make the process painful or pleasurable.'
I blinked. Pleasurable?
'The vampire is in control during the entire process, feeding usually leads to some sexual content whether the doner and the vampire are willing or not.'
I snapped the book shut with a thud, attracting the eyes of Carmen, Laura, and Aly.
"I'm going to bed." I fled up the stairs. I did a few water exercises from my aquawitch book before going to bed.
