A New Land

“Your planet has fallen.”
She smiled viciously.
“Good.”
He blinked, perfect composure rattled.
(Only a little bit, though.)
Why would he understand her triumph? It wasn’t human nature, after all.
(Not that she knew much about it.)
His face once again an emotionless mask, he extended a hand to her.
“Come with me, and I shall show you a better place.”
(She never looked back.)
