I can’t keep lying to him. Love. Why does love appear on the doorsteps of those whose hearts are labeled with “Fragile.” His heart beats faster while mine remains still. Cold. I don’t want to be in love anymore. Help me. I’m screaming at the bottom of my guilt, and no one seems to hear me, yet understand.

The author's comments:

When I was given the prompt "Heart Beats and Lies" as a journal entry in my creative writing class, I didn't like it. At first, it was hard for me to interpert, and threw a wrench into my style of writing. But after writing for a few minutes, and examining what I wrote, I found that the words were spilling onto the page. And I liked what I was writing. I think this piece shows that feelings I thought I had thrown away long ago, were only hiding in a filing cabinet in my heart.
