“You’re the only light I’ve ever known, Irene.
Don’t leave me. I’ll break. Please stay. “ pleaded he.
“To you,
I’m merely one of the stars scattered across the night sky.
But if you looked closely enough. You’ll see that I’m actually the thread that binds the constellations together, as if they were a string of jewels on a necklace.
You don’t know me;
You know of me.”
and with that, Irene turned swiftly at her heels and left, without a “goodbye”.
