Since when was the heart a item to play with? The board game of Life and the actual game of Life are completely different. If we could just restart; many people wouldn't even make it past the start. Either their scared to screw up or they think they deserve the best from the start. Yet there are those who will marry early and never find their true.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it." Autumn apologized as she sat next to her. She told what happened at her house with Gabriel. They were inside a funeral home.
-the night before-
The Sirens screamed by as her tears fell. 'Is it him? What happened?' questions raced through her head as fast as Bolt in the Olympics. She staggered out onto her front pouch as she seen the final flashes of red and blue speed around a corner. She had no idea where he was. She paced about; inside and outside the house. A car pulled into her driveway about 11 at night. It was her mom; she ran to her as fast as she could and hugged her. Her mom knew who was in the ambulance.
-back at the funeral home-
Jordan came over to her and hugged her; saying he was sorry and he would do anything if she asked. Jordan sat with the two girls. A closed black casket with roses sat in the front of the room. It went just like any other funeral. After a while everyone filled into cars and followed behind the hearse. When they arrived at the graveyard; they surrounded the grave and said final words.
One by one people started to leave. That's when she seen it. A rose pendant hung by a long chain was left tied around leaves on the weeping willow tree in the middle of the cemetery. She grabbed Autumn and pulled her with her. At a pace of quick walking; she grabbed the pendant and ripped it from the tree; taking the leaves with her. Without a word she kept going. Autumn protested and question what's going on until she seen it. Right at the edge of the graveyard in the treeline.
"What is wrong with you!" She screamed at him as punched him in his chest. "You know how long we been looking for you? You've been gone for days without a word! You had me worried! Where did you go! Why did you do that!" She screamed and screamed at him. Not knowing to keep hitting him or hug him, she just kept screaming. He stood there and took it. He looked to Autumn as she stood silently. The few remaining people at the grave looked with hate at her as they mourned silently.
She stopped screaming to take a breath. Her ribs threatened to poke right out of her. She stared at him waiting for answers.
"Who died?" The only thing he could think.
"Old man Morris. The guy who lived in between our neighborhoods for years. Heart attack. Alone. Dead for two days before someone found him."
His heart beat. His heart pounded. Morris was like a actual father to him. He was always there. He knew what happened and everyone loved him. As a kid, Morris taught him everything from mowing the yard to fixing a car. He had no idea what to do. Even his body had no idea what to do. He just stood there froze. His chest was packed with crystal shards and it was about to explode. His head flooded. He dropped to the ground and stared into nothing. Her face went from anger to sorrow as she watched him, "I'm so sorry. No one knew he was going to..." Autumn leaned down and whispered something into her ear. She looked up at Autumn; and shook her head no as she stared to cry again.
"I don't know why. I can't." With that she stood and started to walk to the car. Autumn and Gabriel were left there at the edge of the woods alone. She turned around, Rose Pendant in hand and held it to her heart.
