Officially, the only thing I have to remember you by is the picture of you. That’s all my parents let me keep before they burnt everyone other thing you ever gave me. It’s a good picture. It captures everything from the dark messy hair, to your gorgeous smile to the sparkle in your eyes.
Of course you left me with so much more. The memories. Talking for hours. Laughing for no reason. Sneaking out in the middle of the night just to see you. And your warm hand in mine.
But I've hidden those memories deep inside of me. When you were first gone, I woke up several times in the dark, screaming your name. The name I was ordered to forget. The name I would never forget.
So I keep you a secret. No one knows what a big part of me you still are. And so no one can take that away. You are so much to me, that I cant forget you without forgetting myself.
But no one knows that. To them, the only thing I have is the picture of you.
