“Jump, jump, jump,” the neighborhood kids chants and screams sent shivers down Greg’s spine and packed butterflies into his stomach. Its tradition, after the last day of school all the kids meet at the Thompson Bridge that goes over the lake and jump off. Greg had moved to Queens Ville last November so this was his first time being here on the last day of school. Back where he grew up people never swam, it rained too much. Here, the local water park is flooded with kids every day of summer. No one knew he had never swam before, he wondered if he even could. Greg climbed over the railing onto the other side of the bridge. He looked down at the thirty foot drop into the murky water, the kids screams had become white noise, there was no turning back now. He took his hands off the railing and… jumped.
