"Onto the next." -Megan Hilty

Cool, white sand crumbles around my feet. My black hood falls over my face, guarding me from reality. I look out to the horizon; layers of silky blue waves rippling, crashing, diving onto the shore. No one knows where I am. No one cares. Right now, I am not existing, And that's alright, for now. Rain starts trickling down around me forming indents on the sand. The pattern is undisturbed. Maybe I can stay here forever, never ruining the pattern. But I am a person, I have a life, and in my heart I know I cannot stay on this beach forever. Life is not over. I can move on. I will move on.

The author's comments:
I wrote this on vacation, while sitting on a beach during a calming rain shower. I basically stepped into the role of someone who lost someone they love, but it could apply to a relationship. I want people to know that they can, and SHOULD move on.

Elegantly and simply written and I think you express a very important point. This piece evoked deep, raw emotions and I found it really moving. Good job! Could you maybe check out some of my work?
