Exhausted, Maren slipped into the river like a water nymph. The surface broke and connected again above her dark hair as she let herself sink into its deep currents. When she finally came up gasping for air, the sun’s warm light welcomed her with its sparkling designs on the rippling water. Wet rocks halted her progress downstream, leaving her to take in the beauty of spring.
