The poor are just a pair of arms for the rich, with no heart and no soul. El Norte is a film made in 1984 by Gregory Nava about a brother and sister named Enrique and Rosa who travel North from their native country Guatemala to the United States. Enrique is played by David Villalpando and Rosa is played by Zaide Silvia Gutierrez. The siblings must flee their country after they have been run out by Guerillas, and the cartel controlling the work in their village.

El Norte was aiming towards the hardships and obstacles it takes for immigrants to get and live in the United States. The siblings are looking for a better life and don’t know where to look to start. Once they do start things just keep going bad until they meet a person they can put trust in. The man Don Ramon was talking about, Monty. Monty showed them to the U.S and who would be able to help him, once they got there it seemed like the hardships would never end until Enrique got a job and was able to support himself and Rosa.
