I wake up in my bed, breathing hard. Bad dream again. The alarm blares, but I ignore it, leaving it on as I pull on my suit. My woman is cooking breakfast, but I don't have time to eat. Toast is stuffed in my mouth as I meet the rising sun.

Hit the gas on my Toyota compact. 60 minutes in traffic. Someone hit my bumper. Sh*t happens.

Department meeting today, I'm not invited. I never am. My chair creaks as I sink into it. No new mail. Nothing to do for the next hour. Walk to the water cooler, talk to fake friends. I don't even like baseball. How about some fresh air.

Four flights up the roof. Good workout. My hair is windswept as I reach the top. The ground looks inviting. Why the hell not? The feeling of free fall is the feeling of ecstasy.

I wake up in my bed, breathing hard. Bad dream again.
