I partcipated in Global Scholar in 2013 and I can honestly say that it was the best summer program I've done thus far. I learned so much about different NGO's and global issues and it really opened my eyes to the many opportunites available. I was so inspired after the program that  I went back to my high school and started a anti-poverty club called CARE, global scholar helped me learned how to create a effective campaign, which greatly helped me recruit people for my club. It'... (more »)

This amazing summer program gives you the chance to visit embassies, to talk one on one with people working in think tanks, government agencies, and activist networks, and to explore D.C. Because of the small size of the group, you are able to bond with your fellow Scholars, and also to experience opportunities you wouldn't in a larger program, such as being invited to dinner at the Bahraini embassy! Not to mention the incredible skills training program that culminates in a lobbying trip to ... (more »)

I'm a former participant, and really recommend Global Scholar. I learned about important issues like poverty and conflict. We spent lots of time talking about how to do things to solve these problems, including visiting our senators, or organizing an event or project. I've been really interested in international affairs since I studied abroad, but Global Scholar really helped me put everything in perspective. I now know what I can do as a student, and what others are doing. We did lots of cool s... (more »)

Global Scholar is honestly one of the better summer programs that I've been a part of. Before doing Global Scholar the summer before my senior year of high school, I didn't really know yet what I wanted to pursue as a major in college (I mean, could you blame me, I was 16). I had traveled abroad the summer before and was really interested in talking about foreign affairs in all my AP classes, but I never really thought much of it. Global Scholar definitely helped to push me in the direction of f... (more »)

My daughter attended Global Scholar, and had a wonderful experience. She met so many fascinating speakers, and really gained a firm understanding of the global issues  facing us all. She now "gets" current events, and I see her applying this knowledge to her studies. The program also helped build her confidence as a young woman who has the power to speak out about issues she cares about. She was particularly fond of the public speaking training, and the visit to Capitol Hill. We highly rec... (more »)

I am a student who attended Global Scholar in the Summer of 2008. I am currently a freshman at American University in Washington D.C. double majoring in International Studies and Communications. I can honestly say that Global Scholar was the biggest catalyst in getting me where I am today. I was so inspired by the high school students who had such a zeal to learn about the world. I was entirely awestruck by the interns and young employees at AID. I had no idea that college students could ... (more »)
