We are Misfits

I joined the Laingsburg band in the 6th grade, mostly because I would not have to take gym class if I took band. Little did I know that it would be one of the best decisions I had ever made, and that I would have been completely lost in high school if I hadn’t joined the band.

We are a band of misfits. There are cheerleaders, math nerds, history geeks, jocks; we have someone from every clique in the school. And while we are all very different, we have all got something in common: our love of music. We are the kids you see on the street, bobbing our heads in time to an imaginary tune running through our heads. We are the kids using every single surface as a drum set. We are the kids tapping our feet to the beat of an imaginary bass.

But most of all, we are a family. Band is in a completely different league than other classes, because we all care for each other. Having trouble with homework? Family stressing you out? Need a study-buddy? Someone in band will help you out with whatever your problem is, guaranteed. As a senior this year I have been the person helping, instead of the one asking for help. I have helped the freshman with marching and keeping up with the music, and I am here if they need a friend. I am glad to help, because I remember what it was like to not have someone to turn to.

I am proud to be a part of the family.

I joined marching band this year and this really does a good job of describing the experience. I love it!

Wonderful to know that the band at LHS has given you good memories.

Fun to find this on line.
