In this photograph, the Mona Lisa is not the subject; the tourists are. The love for and popularity of this painting is inmense all around the world, but it is secure and separated from all of its adorers by glass ten times thicker than a window. And the tourists take their beloved photograph to show their friends what they were able to get a glimpse of during their vacation, and quickly move on to bigger and newer things.
