La Clavela de Noviembre
This picture portrays an eighteenth century Spanish woman fighting between her own two identities. This woman is a mirror of myself, as I try to figure out who I want to be, mixed with so many races, and not knowing which one to embrace. The tear dripping is her remorse of not being able to be herself, as the world is separated by race, though she can't even find a race to identify with. The rotting, bone part of her face shows her personal decay, losing herself because she's trying so hard to be someone else. The grey scale is contrasted by dark red roses which show the Spanish influence coordinating with the traditional Spanish clothing.
