By Oliva D., Farmington, NY

During that winter
When snowmen came alive
You had to see to believe
Perfect
Pristine
And how you could almost taste it

Surely the best part
(Always saved for last)
Were the snowballs
Into perfect orbs they would form
Crunching as the delicate snow
Strained under the compression of my
Worn-out, soggy gloves

When the transformation was complete
The newborn rockets were
Fired mercilessly at
Siblings, friends,
Or anyone unlucky enough
To be within the battle zone

During that winter
