By JEN M., Swampscott, MA

The best kind

It blows softly

Fine and light and wispy

Like cotton

It swirls gently in front

And behind us

Obscuring our tracks

So foreign

And it drifts quietly down onto us

Like little instant

Mashed potatoes

They used to make me eat it

Now with my tongue

I absorb it

On the side it's flat

And calm

Long unbroken fields of sugar

Granulated

It is so very fine and it glistens

Sparkling in Wonderland

And the sky

Oh, the sky

It glows red like

Crimson blood in water.
