An Answer To Ill

By Ray L., Roxbury, MA

To run is to hide, and to fear the day

You will be caught, and made to see the truth

That thoughts do not see and words do not say,

Yet present in actions, crude and uncouth.

This is the answer to break frozen ice

In violent struggles which all are a part.

One simple solution, world sacrifice,

Comes not from the mind, but from a man's heart.

Yet who am I to say this so loudly,

Just one of many who sit in high places.

Due to this country we can walk proudly

Wealth from the weak with unshaven faces.

An answer exists, yet still we have war.

Damn our insatiable desire for more.
