By Jessica R., Midlothian, VA

I write myself out of this world
And into another
Out of sorrow
Out of pain
Out of nightmares
And out of rain
And out of solids
Out of lines
Out of the darkness
And into the light
And into a world
Where beams of light dance
Where shadows roam free
And colors clash
Where landscapes shift
And dreams swirl 'round
Where voices murmur
And soul's callings are found
For this is a world
That waits in the dark
It waits for inspiration
And ideas to spark
It waits for my pen
To give it a name
For me to mold it
Then delete it again
It is in this place
That I am truly at home
For this is a world
That I can call my own
