By Cara P., Jane Lew, WV

white mice
made her scared for her life
but there will be no horses today
because the caged bird didn’t sing
’twas the lice upon her wing
stories never made to match
imagination never to catch
cinderella my chosen profession
personify my confession
softened by blinding snow
is there anything she doesn’t know
if snow white lets the memories die
shouldn’t i, also
finish my chores before the ball
squeeze from my sponge
once and for all
well mock rapunzel
oh what a fool
letting him in
what a thing to do
we all know what she did
our own mistakes silently hid
juliet was such a priss
dying over some words and a kiss
but we all know
we’d go for romeo
i’ll fight and toil
to keep my breath
cause i’ll never meet
my storytale death
