By Hannah B., Chicago, IL   (More by this author »)

My dearest love, so faithful thou to me,
My closest friend through all my living days.
Our love is thus a thing of history,
It will endure throughout our lives for aye.
Whene’er I’m sad you come and cuddle close,
Your murmur comforts me and dries my tears.
You always know when I need you the most,
And from the shadows you will soon appear.
You make me laugh when playfulness is felt,
But soon your dignity you will regain.
Your taste for food has made you less than svelte,
You’re handsome, although cheese is oft your bane.
You listen well whenever I do call,
I love you so, my cat, my Fireball.
