By Jennifer M., Salina, KS

in a child’s eyes
The rain of a million worlds
Wets our tongues
As we stare into the sky
Blinded by lightning
As it falls in zig zags
Slicing the cool spring air
Volts of electricity
Energize our bodies
As we run to catch the falling twinkles of starry-eyed dreams
Tears glimmer on our cheeks smeared with dirt and rain
As we dance to crashes and sing to the clouds
Crisp leaves of brown
Buds of green
Wafts of blueberry pie
