By Susan D., Shrewsbury, MA

     Today the world is gray,
while the sky drips secrets
as stars and bubbles simmer on the tar.
Leaves drenched with sadness
for every child
who wanted to play outside.
Through the window
the whole city
is a blur.
Silver liquid drops roll down the screen,
making rivers and pathways,
all just to disappear.
Sounds of marbles on the roof
play a sweet little melody
that soothes us all.
This October air reads my mind while
memories flood the driveway, leaking into the street,
just for passing cars to erase them.
Today the world is gray, and the sky drips secrets
as stars and bubbles simmer on the tar.
But as for me, I like the rain.
