By Terina A., Brooklyn, NY

World peace is an adolescent lie
Why squander my birthday wishes for the seventeenth time?
At the brink of day the end awaits
Faster than Superman we race to doom
Hastily ascend from mediocrity, bombs of time don’t dine
Ears in seashells are a hopeless desire
The beauty of the ocean is stolen by natural disaster
Masked violence in the form of religion
Massive infidelities pilot anti-evolution
Final calls for life but nobody can answer
Stem-cell research deems us so clever
One casualty for another and that makes it better
The gods of life still inevitably wait
Breakfast is served, don’t let your eyes win again
Wake up and smell the gunpowder before dawn claims forever
