She told me that I look like him
Time after time
I would look in the mirror
To see if he would appear,
But all I see is me
In the reflection.
She told me that
He was a wonderful man
If so
He would be here with me.
She told me that he left me
Before my name ever
Existed
I hate him for that,
But
I also thank him for that
'Cause
It only made me stronger.
That's probably the reason
She pushes me away
In fear of her heart
Being broken by the same man twice,
But I'm not my father
I will love her the way he couldn't
I will care for her the way he wouldn't
Because I am me, only me ...
