By Mandy L., Mansfield, OH

A violin
brings to mind manners and gentlemen
in starched white clothing,
proper and clean.
A party with dancing and freshly cut flowers
and elegant flowing gowns.
Curtsies and bowing
and novels of adventure
on the high seas.
Renaissance and romanticism
and paintings of kings.
Long letters of pleading,
honest love,
written with the scent of hope.
Feasts made into works of art,
with laughter and enchanting
acquaintances.
Language that becomes music
when spoken,
and divine when whispered.
Magnolia trees and blossoms,
promising continued serenity.
Homes full of roses and loyalty,
etiquette and bravery.
Music that encourages gently through
Sonatas, waltzes,
and sounds of
A violin.
