And it was
at the dawn of time
the earth spilled its molten blood
mountains rose like wrinkles on its back

And with a hint,a buzz
of both fire and icy rime
life, too, spread out as a flood
and the continents began to crack

Eons passed and then,because
the earth, in a parody of mime
was silent, frommountaintop to mud
we pulled ourselves away, we turned ourbacks

And from a mutual silence, as it often does
a darkignorance arose, began its climb
a sinister bloom spread from its bud
and when we finally raised our heads, all was black
