Contest Prizes
Teen Ink publishes ten issues each year, September through June. In
January and June, we will honor at least one teen author for outstanding
Travel & Culture writing from the past five months. Essays and poems are
published in Teen Ink magazine and contest winners receive a copy of the
magazine featuring their story (as well as a pen and pad), plus the opportunity to choose from an
exciting selection of Teen Ink merchandise - apparel and other items -
available exclusively from Teen Ink.
Contest Guidelines
Teen Ink will only consider original essays
and poems written by teens. Essays should be between
500 and 2,500 words, and writing must relate in some way to
travel or world culture. Feel free to include photos, though it is not required.
Describe an exciting experience you had visiting a new state or country.
Tell us what it was like to host a foreign exchange student.
Share your first memory of learning about a different culture.

Deadlines
The deadline for entering the Travel & Culture Contest is May 1. Entries are accepted and considered for
publication in Teen Ink magazine and online throughout the year.
Winning essays and/or poems are announced in June.
