I walked into the room at 8 a.m.
Maple paneling,no posters, no decorations
You couldn't even guess what kind of class wastaught there.
I was nervous, shaking terribly
This would probably be one ofthe most important days of my life.
No talking allowed.

I quietly tooka seat near the front
And took out pencils, and my calculator.
The onlything I heard was the proctor writing on the board, and
The squeaking ofpencils filling in little gray bubbles one by one.
Four hours passed and thesilence made me really hungry.
The proctors themselves were getting restless, staring at the clock
as the second hand ticked away.

I turned to thelast section, and studied it. Then I began
All this writing and mumbo jumbo.
When I finished the last question, I closed the booklet, and breathed.
